Our Values

In 1952 a small group of people from Hartford Gospel Tabernacle (now Faith Assembly of God) began this church as an outreach to Plainville. Many Assembly of God churches in the North and West sections of Connecticut had similar origins. In 1952 a small group of people from Hartford Gospel Tabernacle (now Faith Assembly of God) began this church as an outreach to Plainville. Many Assembly of God churches in the North and West sections of Connecticut had similar origins. The original church was called “Calvary Gospel Chapel” and was located in a home in Shuttle Meadow Park (14 Rosemont Drive) in Plainville, then moved to a farm house on Route 10 (across the street from Bank North and the Pratt & Whitney Plant on what was then College Highway – Route 10).

The church acquired land on Dunham Street in 1955. In January, 1958 the church moved to its current location, on what was once the Dahlgren Farm. In 1959 the name was changed to “Calvary Assembly of God”. Over time, the towns of Plainville and Southington moved the town line, after which Calvary Assembly of God became a Southington church.

Our mission over all these years remains the same – to be a Pentecostal witness to the Plainville and Southington communities.
